Key points:
1. Students can get familiar with the topic of “food and lifestyle” and learn some frequency words.
2. Students can improve the listening and speaking ability.
Difficult Points:
1. Students can talk about their own lifestyle fluently.
2. Teaching procedures:
Step 1 Lead-in
Greet students and show some pictures of different foods. Students can tell the names of these foods and express whether they like to eat them.
(Justification: the teacher can lead the topic of “food and lifestyle” very naturally and it can also arouse students’ interest.)
Step 2 Pre-listening
Read the questionnaire on the book and tick the correct boxes to show your lifestyle, then talk with deskmates. Three minutes later, the teacher will invite some students to share their answers.
(Justification: students can combine this topic with their own daily life and think about if their lifestyle is healthy, and it can also lay a foundation for the following listening steps.)
Step 3 While-listening
1. Extensive listening
Listen to the interview with Benny and answer the question: what are they talking about?
(Justification: students can improve their extensive listening ability to get the main idea of the listening material.)
2. Intensive listening
Listen to the tape for the second and third time and tick the correct boxes of Benny’s lifestyle.
(Justification: students can understand the listening material in detail to improve their intensive listening ability.)
Step 4 Post-listening
Give students a table on the screen to show how to count the scores of the questionnaire. Students count the scores of themselves’ and Benny’s to compare whose lifestyle is healthier, and then share their ideas with classmates.
Group discussion: How do you build up a healthy lifestyle?
